This policy explains what information is processed when you request The Hidden Fire, how it is used, and how to contact us about it.
Information we collect
Book request. We collect the email address you enter, the time of the request, the page or campaign source, basic browser information, and the IP address supplied by the hosting platform for security and rate limiting.
Optional notes. The checkbox for occasional notes is optional. We store whether you selected it. Requesting the PDF does not require consent to ongoing marketing messages.
Delivery records. We keep technical records showing whether an address was confirmed and whether a protected download link was issued or used. These records help deliver the requested file, prevent abuse, and avoid repeatedly asking a confirmed reader to reconfirm on a related site.
How we use the information
- To confirm that the book request was made by you.
- To send the requested PDF and, when needed, a fresh protected link.
- To send occasional notes only when you selected the optional checkbox.
- To protect the service from automated abuse and investigate delivery failures.
- To maintain a suppression record after an unsubscribe request.
Service providers
Cloudflare hosts the site, Pages Functions, security controls, private book storage, and key-value records used for confirmation and delivery.
Resend sends confirmation and delivery emails and, only when optional consent is given, stores the address in the site's broadcast audience.
These providers process information only as needed to operate the site and deliver communications. We do not sell personal information.
Related-site confirmation
A minimal confirmed-address record may be stored in a shared Cloudflare key-value namespace used by related Andrei Efremov book sites. Its purpose is to recognize that the same address has already completed double opt-in, so the reader can receive a requested book without another confirmation step. The separate sites keep their lead records and broadcast audiences distinct.
Retention
We retain delivery, consent, confirmation, and unsubscribe records for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, document consent, prevent repeated confirmation requests, comply with applicable obligations, and honor unsubscribe choices. You may ask us to delete information that is not required for those purposes.
Cookies and measurement
The site does not set advertising or behavioral-marketing cookies and does not load a third-party analytics script.
The site records a limited set of first-party events — for example, that a section was viewed, a book button was clicked, an address was confirmed, or a protected download occurred. These event records do not contain the email address or the full IP address; they may include the page path, campaign parameters, referring domain, broad device category, country code, and time. They are retained for up to 180 days. Browser Do Not Track signals are respected for events sent by the page. Cloudflare may process ordinary request logs and security signals, and may set strictly necessary security cookies when its abuse-protection systems require them.
Your choices
- You may request the book without selecting the optional notes checkbox.
- Every ongoing marketing email includes an unsubscribe mechanism.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, or clarification about information associated with your email address.
Security
The PDF is stored in a private bucket and delivered through time-limited personal links. Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Medical information
The book-request form asks only for an email address and optional communication consent. Do not send medical records or sensitive health information through the form. The site is educational and does not provide a medical service.
